Empowering young people with practical skills
The Agri-Food Systems and Entrepreneurship Centre is a bold initiative under TAGDev 2.0, designed to empower young people with practical skills, foster groundbreaking research, and ignite entrepreneurial innovation in Africa’s agri-food systems.
ASEC will be implemented in partnership with Busitema and Muni University and in collaboration with TVETs, Agricultural extension service providers, agro-input dealers and many other relevant organizations, focusing on community-driven action research and climate-adaptive strategies to tackle challenges in agricultural production and household resilience. This approach is based on the principle of co-creating climate-adaptive strategies to improve production outcomes.
At its core, ASEC is more than a research and training hub—it’s a launchpad for entrepreneurship and business creation, equipping the next generation of innovators to drive transformative change in Africa’s agricultural sector. Join ASEC in shaping the future of agri-food systems, fostering sustainable solutions, and building resilient communities across Africa.
The project is expected to Skill 85,000 Out of School Youth, create 14,413 direct jobs and 33,008 indirect jobs, create 80 enterprises and plant 1,600,000 trees. The project targets, 70% female, 25% refugees and displaced persons and 10% differently abled persons. The project prioritizes the following Strategic value chain; Rice, Coffee, horticultural crops (Onion, Watermelon, Tomato) Mushroom & value addition
